Large Scale

The large-scale metal garden sculptures Avedis created as a celebration of the animal kingdom are familiar sights on the beautiful Long Island landscapes of Southampton and Saratoga that have earned praise from the local media.

Inspired by origami, the Japanese technique of folding paper into a representational form, Avedis coined the term "Metal-Gami" for his dramatic creations that bend metal in a similar manner. His Metal-Gami works are first sketched out, then modeled in Styrene before a final small-scale model is rendered in steel to determine the exact coordinates of each bend and cut necessary to create the sculpture in its full scale.
